Analysis
On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, the City of Grand Prairie awarded a construction contract to McMahon Contracting, L.P. (17-6980) in the total amount of $1,320,917.08 for drainage improvements Section 1-Cottonwood Creek Culvert Improvements at Great Southwest Parkway and Section 2 Oakdale Road Culvert Improvements; material testing with Reed Engineering in the amount of $19,802.75; in-house engineering in the amount of $66,045.85; and 5% construction contract contingency in the amount of $66,045.85 for a total project cost of $1,472,811.53.
This proposed change order No. 8 will increase the contract by by $129,132.46 for Section 2 of the contract for Oakdale Road Culvert improvements to repair and provide slope armoring to the recent flood damaged embankment slopes and roadway shoulder at the three culverts installed by the contract. The damaged and eroded embankment slopes will be repaired and six hundred and ninety four square yards of 6 inch thick reinforced concrete riprap slope protection will be installed around the three culvert headwalls and wingwalls with ninety five cubic yards of 8 inch thick, 4 foot deep reinforced concrete toewalls at the concrete riprap slope protection edges. Oakdale Road from Belt Line Road to SH 161 will be closed to through traffic to facilitate this repair work. The total change order amount is $129,132.46 for a revised contract amount of $1,469,608.97.
