Analysis
The current City Council travel policy (attached) has been in effect since 1991, with revisions in 1993 and 1999, and generally remains effective and consistent. Three changes to existing policy are benficial and recommended. No council member shall allowed to spend in excess of 20% of the total City Council budget allocated for travel for each fiscal year. Airfare for a spouse/guest to accompany an Elected Official will be borne by the city. Approval of expense reports and exceptions to this policy may be made by the Mayor as well as City Manager.
Financial Consideration
Travel funds are approved in the City Council approved annual budget.
