On November 4, 2015 the City of Grand Prairie awarded a contract to GHB Equipment to include repair of two (2) existing pedestrian bridges in front of The Summit due to soil movement, to include construction of four (4) new bridge abutments and wing walls (two (2) per pedestrian bridge), construction of eight (8) 24-inch vertical drilled shafts with an approximate depth of 67 vertical feet per drilled shaft (two (2) drilled shafts per abutment), removal and re-installation of both pedestrian bridges, demolition and removal of the four (4) existing pedestrian bridge abutments, removal and replacement of approximately 125 square yards of sidewalk, 425 cubic yards of rock rip rap installation, and miscellaneous related items of work.
Change Order No. 1 was a time extension only.
The Current Change Order No. 2 provides for a quantity underrun on the 24-inch drilled shafts at the new pedestrian bridge abutments, from 536 vertical feet in the contract documents to 393 vertical feet actually constructed in the field which resulted in a savings of $35,750 from the original contract amount. The current change order/Amendment No. 2 provides for recovery of some cost of the 24-inch drilled shafts bid item due to the quantity underrun exceeding 25% of the quantity listed in the bid documents, as the contractor had ordered materials and other miscellaneous items for this item of work based upon the quantity listed in the bid documents.
