Analysis
On March 2, 2010 the City of Grand Prairie awarded a construction contract to North Texas Contracting in the amount of $2,377,737.00 and approved a 5% contingency of $118,887.00 for a total of $2,496,624.00 for the South Sector lift station construction project.

Construction of this project was initiated in March 2010 with a planned one year term. This term was extended to mid-2012 based on the local electric service provider, Hilco, having power to the lift station; however, power was not available from Hilco until early 2013. Additionally, planned development to be served by the lift station was put on hold in mid-2013, so a decision was made by the City and the contractor to await the need for the station prior to remobilizing the contractor to perform equipment performance testing.

In mid-2015, the City requested the contractor to furnish costs for initiating a facility wide review and testing of all the equipment and a performance testing of the lift station in its entirety in order to confirm that the lift station can be available for connections to City and Mansfield developments as soon as the first quarter of 2016.

This change order/Amendment No. 8 provides for installation of a sluice gate to control sewer flows into the lift station and the removal and replacement of the Odor control unit at the lift station to allow clearance for the South Sector gravity outfall installation at the lift station. The gravity outfall connection into the lift station was modified to accommodate future flows from the City of Mansfield.

Change Order/Amendment No. 8 was presented to Finance & Government on June 7, 20...
