Analysis
On April 13, 2017, Regional Transportation Council (RTC) approved funding for implementation of the Automated Vehicle Program, including implementation of the Traffic Signal Data Sharing Program.
The City of Grand Prairie submitted an application to NCTCOG, and was selected as part of the Traffic Signal Data Sharing Program. The Interlocal Agreement with NCTCOG is necessary for implementation of this project.
This program allows the City of Grand Prairie to participate in a pilot program that makes real-time traffic signal data available to a third-party service provider. The service provider receives this data, analyzes it, makes some predictions, and ultimately makes it available to vehicles navigating on the City streets.
The estimated project cost is $25,000, to be paid by the City and 100% reimbursed by NCTCOG upon completion. The City will only be responsible for cost overruns.
Financial Consideration
Project costs of $25,000 and reimbursements from NCTCOG will be accounted for in the City's Grant Fund (300592) 11517030 (Regional Traffic Signal Data Sharing Program).
