Analysis
Federal and state solid waste regulations require that all permitted Subtitle D landfills monitor groundwater at the facility boundaries to ensure that no contaminants adversely affect human health or the
environment. Routine detection monitoring on a sem-annual basis is required for all active Type 1 landfills and all in post-closure care for at least 30 years after the landfill closes.
This two-year engineering consultant contract with Weaver Consultants Group will provide for well purging, groundwater sampling, lab analysis, statistical comparison and state reporting requirement for
the City of Grand Prairie Landfill Permit #996-C for the sampling events scheduled for 2017 and 2018.
Financial Consideration
Funding for this environmental monitoring task is available in the FY 2016/2017 Solid Waste Operating Fund Budget in the amount of $69,584, in Surveys and Studies (303510 61405).
