Analysis
PURPOSE OF REQUEST:
Per Appendix F, Section 4.A.1. of the Unified Development Code,individual tenant pole signs are not permitted within the I-20 Corridor Overlay. The applicant is seeking a waiver of this standard to erect an approximately 58 square foot static pole sign approximately 26 feet in total height from grade in front of their business located on I-20 frontage road.  The applicant contends that the pole sign is necessary to generate new business from passing motorists.       
 
Staff does not support the request.  
 
CONFORMANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN:
 
The Future Land Use Map (FLUM) of the 2010 Comprehensive Plan Update designates this area for Commercial uses.  
 
RECOMMENDATION:
 
The Development Review Committee (DRC) recommends denial of this request.
