Analysis
The current generator located at 3202 S Great Southwest Parkway is aged, and, its reliability has decreased. The installation of the new generator will require the use of a temporary rental generator to provide back up support to the building in the unforeseen event of a power failure. The rental generator is expected for a period of one (1) month. The fuel for the new and rental equipment will be purchased through our Fleet Services Department distributor at an estimated cost of $4 per gallon of diesel.
Chapter 271.102 of the Local Government Code authorizes local governments to participate in a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or local cooperative organization. In lieu of competitive bidding, items and services may be purchased through such agreements as the agreements have already been bid by the sponsoring entity or agency. The City of Grand Prairie has master inter-local cooperative agreements with various entities including NJPA.
