Analysis
ZirMed is the current vendor for this service, is already integrated with JefBar, and is utilized as the clearinghouse. Clearinghouses are intermediaries who forward claims information from healthcare providers to insurance payers. The clearinghouse checks the claim for errors and verifies compatibility with the payer software, this is known as claims scrubbing. The clearinghouse also checks to make sure the procedural and diagnosis codes being submitted are valid and that each procedure code is appropriate for the diagnosis code. ZirMed also provides online credit card processing, print services & mailing for private pay invoices, electronic remittance advice and eligibility verification. The total cost per month for these services is approximately $1,250 monthly and depends upon how many statements are mailed.
The award was based on best value criteria set up in the specification, including material markup, reputation, quality of service, price, past relationship with the city and other municipalities, if they were local, and other relevant criteria as listed in the specification.
