Analysis
On February 3, 2009, Council approved the purchase of a 2.654 acre tract of land at the intersection of Grand Peninsula Drive and Balboa for future construction of a new Fire Station No. 10 as the need dictated. With continued growth and additional service demands in the lake peninsula sector of the City, the Fire Administration and the CMO determined that it was time to seek professional design services to allow for construction of this Station to commence in the relatively near future.

On December 10, 2013, Council approved a design contract with Komatsu Architecture in the amount of $349,172 for Fire Station 10. (13-3276)

On June 2, 2015, Council approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) construction contract with Pogue Construction in the amount of $5,069,871, and established a 5% contingency in the amount of $253,494 for a new Fire Station No. 10 to be constructed in the Lake Peninsula sector of the City. The Notice to Proceed letter was issued on 8/11/15, and construction commenced shortly thereafter. (15-4677)

Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $102,217 approved by Council on November 17, 2015 allowed for foundation pier casings that were necessary due to an unacceptable level of water seepage within the drilled holes. In the final analysis, all 123 piers on site required casings. (15-5173)

Change Order No. 2 in the total amount of $44,227.97 approved by Council on June 21, 2016 was made up of various items for IT and radio communications and aesthetic modifications to the site and building. (16-5758)
