Analysis
Federal and state landfill regulations require that all permitted Subtitle D landfills monitor groundwater at the facility boundaries to ensure that no contaminants are discharged or that landfill operations do not adversely affect human health or the environment.
Routine detection monitoring on a semi-annual basis is required for all active landfills and all in post-closure care for at least 30 years after the landfill closes.
This two-year engineering consultant contract with Weaver Boos Consultants, LLC Southwest will provide for purging, sampling, lab analysis, statistical comparison and state reporting requirements for the City of Grand Prairie Landfill Permit #996-C for sampling events to take place in 2015 and in 2016.
Financial Consideration
Funding for this environmental monitoring task is available in the FY 2014/2015 Solid Waste Operating Fund Budget, in the amount of $53,299, in Surveys and Studies (303510 61405).
