Analysis
The City’s wrecker service contractor is responsible for towing privately owned vehicles to the City Auto Pound at the request of a police officer, or other City official, usually as the result of an accident or an arrest. When needed, the contractor will perform other services, such as street clean-up after auto collisions and off-road recovery of vehicles. The contractor will also change tires on City vehicles and tow inoperable City vehicles to any location designated by City staff.

Notice of bid #19102 was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and Bid Sync; it was distributed to 16 vendors. There was one Grand Prairie vendor available for this commodity. Four bids were received as shown on attachment A.

The award was based on best value criteria as specified, including but not limited to; local ownership, cost effectiveness, past performance and relationships with the City and other municipalities, and other relevant criteria as listed in the specification. Dave’s Hi-Way Wrecker meets all specifications and is recommended for award.

The members of the Public Safety, Health and Environmental Committee individually reviewed this item prior to the City Council meeting.
