Title: Price agreement for facial recognition software from NEC Corporation for $50,000 for one year with the option to renew for four, one-year periods totaling $250,000 if all extensions are exercised and authorize the City Manager to execute up to four (4) one-year renewals with aggregate price fluctuations of the lesser of up to $50,000 or 25% of the original maximum price so long as sufficient funding is appropriated by the City Council to satisfy the City's obligation during the renewal terms

The Grand Prairie Police Department remains committed to intelligence led policing by utilizing all available technological advances to maintain a safe environment with a high quality of life. A recent advance in facial recognition technology that uses the distinct advantage of a “non-contact process” has become available to local law enforcement agencies for use in the identification of individuals involved in criminal activity. This crime deterrent system provides an application that the Department will utilize to increase its investigatory efficiency and crime prevention performance.

NEC’s facial recognition program is capable of increasing the identification of criminal suspects, while dramatically decreasing the investigator’s time in attempting to identify suspects through traditional means.
