Analysis
The City’s Prairie Paws Adoption Center would like to apply for a grant of up to $100,000 from the Petco Foundation for the Holiday Wishes grant.

Organizations wishing to apply are asked to submit a story, with photographs, of a particular animal that exemplifies the work that they do on behalf of animal welfare, along with basic organizational information. Grant funds received will be used for medical treatment for animals that are adoptable but require medical attention, i.e. heartworm treatment, broken leg, eye infection, etc.

Financial Consideration
Prairie Paws Adoption Center could receive up to $100,000 and there is no required City match for this grant application.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE PETCO FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF UP TO $100,000 FOR PRAIRIE PAWS ANIMAL MEDICAL TREATMENT TO BE EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE AND APPROVAL

Whereas, the Petco Foundation has invited the City to apply for a Holiday Wishes grant; and

Whereas, it is the goal of the City to find responsible, forever homes for pets received at the Prairie Paws Adoption Center.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas that:

Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to accept, reject, alter or terminate this grant on behalf of the City Council.

Section 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in accordance with the Charter of the Grand Prairie and it is accordingly so resolved.
