Analysis
On November 14, 2014 the City of Grand Prairie awarded a feasibility study in the amount of $28,037.80 to Pacheco Koch, LLC to determine the preferred route alignment for a new storm trunk line necessary to drain the existing sump located at the East Main Street (US 180)/Missouri Pacific Railroad underpass. The feasibility study analyzed the existing storm drain system to include televising and environmental considerations for two (2) proposed improvement/alignment options.
· Alignment A included approximately 1,700 linear feet of storm drain improvements. The improvements extend from the northwest corner of the underpass along the railroad tracks to Jackson Branch. The preliminary Opinion of Probable Construction Costs for Alignment A was $1,310,286.
· Alignment B included approximately 1,500 linear feet of storm drain improvements. The improvements extend from the northwest corner of the underpass along the existing right-of-way of East Main Street (US 180) to Jackson Branch. The preliminary Opinion of Probable Construction Costs for Alignment B was $1,107,697.
This Change Order Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $116,683 to the contract provides for the design of Alignment B with a new storm trunk line necessary to drain the existing sump located at the East Main Street / Missouri Pacific Railroad Underpass. The preferred alignment (Alignment B) of the trunk line, determined in the Feasibility Study, is adjacent to the existing right-of-way of East Main Street.
