Analysis

Beginning last year, the city has moved forward on the implementation of various security initiatives including security cameras in various buildings, equipment and storage yards, and perimeter areas.  This continued expansion has created the need for additional large-scale storage.

Along with the video storage needs, we have reviewed the other backup and storage requirements throughout the City and combined these requirements into a single, unified solution. The installation of this Netsync solution will allow us to consolidate mass storage, backup, and redundancy needs throughout the City including financial information, in-car police video, email, and other business information.

The solution consists of installation and configuration of three EMC Isilon 144TB nodes at Public Safety datacenter and at City Hall datacenter and integration of a Cisco Nexus 9300 switch at each datacenter purchased off of the State DIR list. This solution provides for a scalable storage for video, backups and file storage for the entire City datacenter operations.

This purchase was anticipated in our 2015-2016 budgets for IT Hardware Acquisition and Security Implementation.
