Analysis
On December 15, 2015, City Council awarded a contract to Brandstetter Carroll, Inc. for development of the Parks & Recreation Open Space Master Plan. During the spring of 2016, the staff and consultant coordinated ten community meetings throughout Grand Prairie for citizen input. In addition, citizens had the opportunity to provide comments on leisure service needs through the City's website and a specialty "My Sidewalk" web link. A statically valid survey was completed in May of 2016.
Park system inventory and assessment of needs has been formulated into a draft document. This draft is being presented in order to meet an accelerated schedule for submission of a possible acquisition and development grant to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Requirements for the grant include a review of the Master Plan prior to submission of the grant application.
The final draft will be submitted for review and approval in October, 2016.
Financial Consideration
Funds were appropriated on December 15, 2015 for this project.
