Analysis
On March 18, 2014, City Council awarded a construction contract to MICA Corporation for the installation of 11 CCTV cameras and 7 CMS along SH 161 Frontage Roads from IH 20 to Rock Island.
Based on extensive field observations and site evaluation, taking into consideration the intent of the City’s Incident Management Plan, adequate line-of-sight, and existing utility constraints it is recommended that three of the CMS be installed within NTTA R.O.W.
License Agreement with NTTA is necessary for implementation of this project due to installation of three CMS and associated field equipment on NTTA right of way. This project is funded by Federal and State funds and City is only responsible for cost overruns.
This project will complement the City of Grand Prairie's existing Traffic Management System by monitoring traffic incidents and congestion through the installation of the CCTV cameras and systems that provide travelers with information on roadway travel conditions through visual displays such as CMS.
Financial Consideration
There is no cost to the City of Grand Prairie stemming from this agreement.
