Analysis

The City of Grand Prairie has participated in the regional storm water planning through NCTCOG for over fifteen years.  The NCTCOG assists with development of coordinated regional strategies, identifies and pools local funds for joint projects, provides communication and discussion with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, coordinates training events, and provides regional geographic information system capabilities for storm water management.  Through participation in this regional planning, the City has been provided local training, has saved money through cooperative purchases on public education, has benefited from the use of NCTCOG developed educational materials, and has worked with other cities in developing regional solutions to impaired water bodies.

Financial Consideration

Participation in this program is based on cost sharing according to populations of those cities participating.  Our estimated cost share is $8,421 and is available in the FY 2017/2018 Water Wastewater Fund, Environmental Services.  Over the five year term, we do not expect to exceed $45,000 in cost share contributions.
