Analysis

The City of Grand Prairie Animal Services utilizes outside veterinary services for examinations, vaccinations, injections, x-rays, and medications for illnesses such as kennel cough, parasitic intestinal infestation, coccidia, etc.   By improving the overall health of the animal community in our shelter, we are better serving the needs of our customers who are either picking up their own animal after impoundment or adopting one of population.

The City’s Police and Fire K9 units will also utilize this agreement to provide food, examinations, vaccinations, injections and medications, as well as emergency care for the five (5) canines belonging to the city. (four for PD & one for Fire)

Notice of bid #17110 was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, the State's Electronic Business Daily, and Bid Sync; it was distributed to 13 vendors. There were five Grand Prairie vendors available for this commodity.  One bid was received.

Carrier Veterinary Hospital meets specifications and is recommended for award.

Financial Consideration

Funds are available in various departments operating budgets and will be charged accordingly on orders through the end of the fiscal year.  Funding for future fiscal years will be paid from that year’s approved budgets.
