This project was identified by ERCOT and Oncor’s Transmission Planning Group to be upgraded in order to better serve the surrounding communities with additional needed power.
In order to achieve this request, Transmission Engineering’s plan is to replace the existing conductor along with new steel poles capable of the extra weight associated with the new wire.
The additional right-of -way required at this location is to install two (2) new steel h-frame structures in order to stay below the existing 345 kV steel poles. If not, then the existing poles and angle towers would have to be replaced which basically would disrupt this section of the park (see Exhibit “A”). This current plan is designed to minimize that impact to Mike Lewis Park. In order to install new steel poles in the expanded right-of-way, the City needs to sign a Supplemental Easement (see Exhibit “B”).
