Analysis
The purchase of a truck for Station 9 (WO#01900803) for the Fire Department is a planned purchase for FY2019. A trade-in of $52,000 will be credited towards the purchase of the new truck and discounts totaling $40,699 will be credited with the full prepayment of the unit from Siddons-Martin of Denton, Texas through the BuyBoard cooperative agreement. A price increase is scheduled effective December 1, 2018. Total cost for the truck replacement is $1,452,000, inclusive of all related equipment to outfit the new truck.

The BuyBoard is able to save money by pooling the impressive purchasing power of their members, which include hundreds of school districts, municipalities, counties, other local governments, and nonprofits across Texas. They use the power of numbers as leverage to get better prices with the same vendors we use now. This unit will be purchased using BuyBoard contract #571-18 expiring September 30, 2021. The balance of $116,425 will be used to fully equip this truck with hoses, nozzles, tools and equipment using vendors from HGAC, BuyBoard and current City price agreements according to City purchasing policies and procedures.
