Analysis
Kennedy Middle School and Milam Elementary School, both Grand Prairie ISD schools, have an existing shared school zone on SW 3rd Street. The north end of the zone needs to be extended to include the intersection of Dorris Drive along SW 3rd Street.

A Grand Prairie ISD school, Austin Elementary, recently completed remodeling their campus that most notably changed the front entry from facing NW 7th Street to now face Burleson Street. To facilitate better circulation, a segment of Burleson Street will be designated as one-way eastbound during morning and afternoon school zone times.

Harmony Innovation Charter School was built and opened in fall 2018 on Fish Creek Road. A school zone is being established on Fish Creek Road between Holly Hill Drive and Candler Park Drive where neighborhood children are walking to the new campus. The zone effective times are 7:15 to 8:30 am, and 2:45 to 3:45 pm to cover when children are present.

Financial Consideration
The existing 20 mph reduced speed school zone on SW 3rd Street will be extended by moving the existing flasher and end school zone sign north. Establishing the one-way segment and the new school zone will be installing flashers, signs and pavement markings. All costs associated with these school zone adjustments will be paid out of the Street operating budget.
