Analysis
The need for storm drain improvements on Brent Street was identified and approved as part of the FY 2018/2019 budget process by the City of Grand Prairie.
Project scope for the Brent Street storm drain improvements will include assistance in the design of a 24 and 30" diameter storm drain system extension in Brent Street from Crooks Court to West Marshall Drive (maximum 750ft). Flow information developed as part of a 2012 study of Cottonwood Creek and the surrounding neighborhood will be used in hydraulic calculations. The proposed improvements will be modeled using the 2D hydraulic model and typical 1D hydraulic calculations.
Engineering contract will include subconsultant work with D&D for surveying, Jacobs for 2D hydraulic modeling and the Rios Group for subsurface utility (SUE) services.
Chapter 252, Section 22 of the Local Government Code allows for the exemption of competitive bidding when the expenditure is for Professional Services such as engineering services. Multatech was selected as the most qualified professional due to their experience with similar projects for other cities and qualified staff.
