Analysis
Conduct a public hearing for public input regarding The Grand Connection and associated funding requests and approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit grant applications for fiscal year 2018. Grant applications will be submitted to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for $345,891 Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) for $170,584 and North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) for $262,000. The City will provide $265,601 from the City’s General Fund, $18,000 from Dallas County and $3,950 in fare revenues. The total proposed budget for The Grand Connection in 2018 is $1,066,026 which includes Operating costs of $720,135, Vehicle Replacements of $185,000, upgrades to Transit Software and MDT’S Mobile data Terminal $80,000 and Preventive Maintenance of $80,891.

ANALYSIS:
The senior and physically challenged para-transit program began in 1988 with the purchase of one (1) van. Since that time, the program has grown to over 55,000 trips annually with an active fleet of Twelve (12) transit buses/minivans. The Transit Division of the Transportation Services Department operates various types of programs for these citizens. These programs include:

o Nutrition Trip Program--Provides transportation to Dallas County Health and Human Services Nutrition Program at 2975 Esplanade Grand Prairie, Texas
o Medical/Dental Trip Program--Provides transportation to medical/dental appointments.
