Analysis
Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, Chapters 12 "Fire Protection and Emergency Management" and 27 "Vehicles for Hire; Transportation" is recommended by the Fire Department. These amendments are supported and were approved by the Public Safety, Health & Environment Committee on October 10, 2016 and Finance & Government Committee on October 11, 2016 meetings.
That the title of Chapter 12 "Fire Protection and Emergency Management" be amended to read "Fire Protection, Emergency Management and Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Services" to allow for Chapter 27, Article III to be transferred to Chapter 12 and added as Article IV - "Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Services".
Amend the following Sections and Article under the newly titled Chapter 12 "Fire Protection, Emergency Management and Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Services" and Chapter 27, Article III - "Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Services"
Sec. 12-2 - Third Party Review: Construction of Documents International Fire Code Section 105.4.1.1 Examination of Documents by adding as a new section to require a third party review to ensure work indicated is in accordance with code.
Sec. 12-4(a)(2) - Location of fire hydrants by amending to update for safety purposes and include exceptions. (Sec. 12-4(a)(2) ONLY).
Sec. 12-5 - Reward for arson information by amending to update basis for receiving arson reward.
