Analysis
The Summit fitness area equipment has been heavily utilized since it's opening in May of 2010. Based on repairs and maintenance, cost a determination has been made to replace the equipment. Additionally, the flooring utilized was a porous rubber material that allowed low voltage wiring to be run under the rubber to connect the Technogym fitness equipment. This flooring is showing wear and has been difficult to maintain.
Staff is recommending the purchase of fitness equipment offered by Marathon Fitness on BuyBoard in the amount of $291,800.80 and fitness equipment from Comm Fit on BuyBoard in the amount of $6,174.25.
As the new fitness equipment does not require low voltage electrical connectivity improved flooring options are available. Staff recommends commercial rubber sports flooring as supplied by Rubber Flooring Systems, Inc. in the amount of $64,564 on BuyBoard.
Staff recommends a 5% contingency in the amount of $18,127.
Chapter 271.102 of the Local Government Code authorizes local governments to participate in a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or local cooperative organization.
