Analysis
On March 7, 2014, the City of Grand Prairie awarded the engineering and surveying service contract to KSA Engineering in the amount of $45,600 for the design of Main Street sidewalk and parking improvements from Municipal Court to the Annex (Southwest Corner of Main and SW 2nd Street: 201-209 Along W. Main Street and 105 & 109 along SW 2nd Street).

This Amendment/Change Order No. 1 to the consultant contract provides for additional sidewalk improvements and wastewater service along the west side of 209 W. Main Street along the alley. This revised Amendment/Change Order No. 1 to the consultant contract will also provide for modification of the plans, specifications, and contract documents to be combined with the remaining sections along Main Street from Center to N.W. 2nd Street that was not constructed when that construction project was terminated due to non-performance. The construction contract is to be based on competitive sealed proposals method.

Design for the Main Street sidewalk, hardscaping, and landscape improvements from Center to N.W. 2nd and to include Municipal Court to Annex section is scheduled to be completed in May 2015 with bidding and construction to follow. This project requires TxDOT review and approval, and will be coordinated with the property owners.

The cumulative value of the original contract and the current amendment/change order exceed the City managers approval of $50,000 and therefore, City Council approval is being requested to allow City Manager to execute the current and future available amendments/change orders up to an additional $50,000.
