Analysis
On June 5, 2018, the Finance and Government Committee and the City Council approved City staff's request to commit local matching funds for the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Flood Protection Grant. The City is pursuing this grant to convert the existing rain/stream gauge system from ALERT to ALERT2 protocol. The grant application instructions require a resolution with specific wording to be approved by City Council. The attached resolution meets the TWDB's grant application requirements.

Financial Consideration
Funding in the amount of $130,000 from agenda item #18-7951 was approved by council action on 6/5/18 agenda.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD (TWDB) FLOOD PROTECTION GRANT FOR A PROJECT TO CONVERT THE RAIN AND STREAM GAUGE SYSTEM FROM ALERT TO ALERT 2 PROTOCOL

Whereas, The City of Grand Prairie is a member of the National Flood Insurance Program; and

Whereas, the City has determined this project will improve the health, safety and welfare for the citizens of Grand Prairie

Whereas, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) offers grants to political subdivisions of the State of Texas for the implementation of projects that will provide early warning systems to warn its constituents in the event of a flood and help communities better respond to a flood event.

Whereas, the City of Grand Prairie's Stormwater Utility has funding available to use as the local match;
