Analysis
On May 2, 2017, the City Council awarded the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract to Modern Contractors for pre-construction services for the Charley Taylor Recreation Center additions and renovations project in the amount of $1,000. This award provided the CMAR services including development of project estimates, preliminary construction schedules, value engineering and constructability review during the Design Phase.
The current Change Order/Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $4, 549,562 represents the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the scope of work currently defined in the Magee Architects Construction Documents Package as competitively bid by Subcontractors to Modern Contractors on September 7, 2017. Farmer Environmental Group has performed asbestos remediation on previous city projects through an annual contract. The remaining $237,598 is allocated to security equipment, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the Change Order/Amendment No. 2 with Modern Contractors in the amount of $4,549,562 for the Charley Taylor Recreation Center Expansion and Renovation Project; approve a contract with Farmer Environmental Group, in the amount of $62,840; and approve a 3.3% contingency in the amount of $150,000, for a total cost of $4,762,402 is available in Park Capital Projects Fund (317193) WO #01505501-03 (Charley Taylor Renovations Phase 1).
