Analysis

This agreement will be for purchases of emergency vehicle equipment required for make-ready status for all new vehicle purchases and any replacements and upgrades to equipment used on existing emergency vehicles. Some of the more common purchases include vehicle light bars, cages for squad cares, and sirens.

Chapter 271.102 of the Local Government Code authorizes local governments to participate in a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or local cooperative organization. In lieu of competitive bidding, items and services may be purchased through such agreements as the agreements have already been bid by the sponsoring entity or agency.  The City of Grand Prairie has master inter-local cooperative agreements with various entities including Tarrant County.

Tarrant County RFB# 2019-181 was effective July 28, 2019 and expires July 27, 2020 with two (2) renewal options remaining. Dana Safety, through this contract, offers the equipment the City requires.

Financial Consideration

Funds are available in various operating budgets and will be charged accordingly on orders though the end of the current fiscal year. Funding for future fiscal years will be paid from that year’s approved budgets.
