Analysis
The City of Grand Prairie covers 81.4 square miles, is the 5th largest city in the Dallas - Fort Worth region in land mass, and is situated in three counties (Dallas, Tarrant, and Ellis). Law enforcement agencies in this region are increasingly reliant upon the cooperation of each other in both procedural matters and in the use of technological advances. Law Enforcement activities often extend beyond the boundaries of the City limits which make it incumbent upon local agencies to mutually cooperate and communicate across geo-political boundaries to effectively serve and protect their respective constituents.

The City currently operates the new P25 Motorola radio system which provides highly technical communications throughout its boundaries. However, in order to achieve and maintain the necessary open regional communications and interoperability, the City of Grand Prairie must connect with the City of Fort Worth’s “P25 Interoperability Network Regional Master Switch”.

The City of Fort Worth’s “P25 Interoperability Network” provides access to 50 “Interoperable Communications” talk groups for participating agencies. Participating agencies may leverage these P25 Interoperable talk groups as an interoperability network for inter-agency emergency response communications and are presented as a shared resource.
