Analysis
Green Oaks DQ, LLC is developing a Dairy Queen fast food restaurant, and connecting the main entrance of the development to the intersection of N. Green Oaks Blvd and Riverside Drive. The projected traffic from the development warrants a traffic signal at N. Green Oaks Blvd and Riverside Drive.
On February 2, 2016, the City Council approved a Developer Participation Agreement with Green Oaks DQ, LLC for the construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of N. Green Oaks Blvd and Riverside Drive. Because of the existing utilities that are so dense on the northwest corner, and the KFC property that is located on the southwest corner, installation of a dual arm signal pole in the median appears to be a viable option. The city limit line is in front of the median nose. This median nose needs to be cut back to accommodate the crosswalk, as well as the traffic turning left onto Riverside Drive, which causes the signal pole to be located within Arlington city limits.
An inter-local agreement with the City of Arlington is necessary for the implementation of this project due to the installation of a traffic signal pole within the City of Arlington right of way.
Financial Consideration
There is no additional cost to the City of Grand Prairie by locating the traffic signal pole in Arlington rather than in Grand Prairie.
