Analysis
Contract for eight years with Motorola Solutions for maintenance and monitoring on the P25 Citywide Radio system. This contract will cover support, maintenance, upgrades, and proactive monitoring of the Core system in the Public Safety Building and all 3 radio site in the amount of $387.955.65. The agreement will be an eight year agreement, beginning January 1, 2017 expiring December 30, 2024. Year two of the contract will be the first year that the Service Upgrade Agreement (SUA II) will take effect with the City of Fort Worth, which is included in year two through eight value of this contract. The Grand Prairie radio system is connected to the Fort Worth master switch through an interoperable partnership with the Cities of Fort Worth, Arlington, Mansfield, and other cities in the region. This will provide preventative monitoring and maintenance to the radio system infrastructure.
The services provided by Motorola are sole source due to the proprietary nature of the communications system and equipment and qualifies for an exemption from bidding under local government code 252.022 General Exemptions for "procurement of items that are available from only one source because of patents and copyrights".
Financial Consideration
Funding is provided in the FY 2016/2017 General Fund Operating Budget; Communication Equipment - Radio (151110-63105). Funding for future fiscal years will be paid from that year’s approved budgets.
