Analysis
A number of years ago the Cities of Dallas, Grand Prairie and Dallas County, under the County Orphan Roads Program entered into an agreement wherein the section of East Jefferson Street between SE 14th Street and Camden Drive was designated as Dallas roadway and the remainder of East Jefferson, including three bridges and part of a fourth bridge were designated as Grand Prairie roadways. The bridges, constructed of concrete decades ago, were in reasonably safe condition but have required some maintenance, both remedial and preventive.
 
In previous years, we have made repairs to two of the bridges and are now ready to begin work on a third bridge. In order to make sure the appropriate work is done and funds expended only where needed, we need to have an engineering study done to identify and recommend repairs.  Award of a contract to Cobb Fendley, Inc.for this purpose is recommended.  
 
Financial Consideration
Funding for an engineering contract with Cobb Fendley, Inc. in the amount of $67,780 as well as 5% contingency of $3,389 for a total of $71,169, for the rehabilitation of Jefferson Bridge #3, are available in the Street Capital Projects Fund (400192),  WO #01407701(Misc. Engineering).
