Analysis
On July 12, 2016, the City of Grand Prairie awarded a construction contract to Klütz Construction, LLC in the amount of $807,855.50 and approved a 5% contingency of $40,393.00 for a total of $848,248.00 for the Sir Roland Drive Wastewater Improvements and Slope Repairs project.
Change Order/Amendment No. 2 in the negative amount of ($67,397.00) provides for the following: Added work for the repair of a damaged landscape light, the removal and replacement of additional damaged sod in the yard at 530 Sir Roland Drive, an 8” concrete curb along an existing flume between 530 and 533 Sir Roland Drive in order to improve drainage and prevent possible erosion adjacent to the flume, installation of additional Asian jasmine plants along the construction access path behind 530 Sir Roland Drive, and reconciliation of some pay items based on revised quantities. Total increase for Change Order/Amendment No. 2 are $16,300; Total decreases are -$83,697 for a net of negative -$67,397 and cumulative of $99,997.
Change Order/Amendment No. 1 for $29,250 was approved and executed on November 14, 2016 and included the installation of additional rock rip rap in order to prevent erosion at additional areas along the stream bank, testing equipment for the manta ray anchors installed as part of the stone gabion wall, and tree removal of some dead trees that had fallen into the stream channel and could potentially inhibit flow of the stream during a high rainfall event.
The revised overall project completion date for this construction contract is Monday, May 1, 2017.
Financial Consideration
No funding is required for this amendment/change order No. 2.
