Analysis

These agreements will be for the purchases of emergency vehicle equipment required for make-ready status for all new vehicle purchases and any replacements or upgrades to equipment used on existing emergency vehicles. Some of the more common purchases include vehicle light bars, cages for squad cars, and sirens.

State purchasing laws, Local Government Code, Chapter 271, authorize local governments to enter into joint contacts and cooperative agreements for the performance of governmental functions normally associated with the operation of government such as purchasing necessary materials and supplies.  The City of Grand Prairie has master inter-local cooperative agreements with various entities including Tarrant County.

Financial Consideration

Funds are available in various operating budgets and will be charged accordingly on orders through the end of the current fiscal year.  Funding for future fiscal years will be paid from that year’s approved budgets.
