Title

Analysis

The Overdrive contract, issued in May 2013, allowed the expenditure of $15,000 a year for four years.  Contract maximum was $60,000.  That broke down to a platform fee of $10,000 and content of $5,000 a year.  Of course, since that time, the popularity and demand of e-books has greatly increased so that we have already hit our $50,000 cap before needing City Council approval to exceed.

Therefore, we are requesting an amendment to the contract to allow expenditures of up to $45,000 a year ($10,000 platform and $35,000 in content) through the end of the contract, depending upon available approved budget.  New amended 4-year contract maximum would be $150,000.

Overdrive is our exclusive provider of e-books because they are the only provider who offers both Kindle and e-pub (I-Pad) options.
