Analysis
On April 4, 2016, the Grand Prairie City Council approved a Memorandum of Lease and Proposed Construction of Improvements Agreement with Staggerwing Development #4, LLC for construction taxiways and a run-up area needed to allow construction of a facility to house Skymates, Inc., a flight school currently operation at Arlington Municipal Airport that will be relocation to the Grand Prairie Municipal Airport. A sister company of Staggerwing Development #4, LLC, Aerofirma Corporation, is the construction company currently working on the project.
As work on the project has proceeded, it has become evident that the perimeter road needs to be extended to the project to allow access to the newest hangars and to the new flight school from the airport. Aerofirma Corporation has proposed to extend the asphalt road for $29,000 plus minimal expenses to grade back the existing road ending to match the new pavement and mobilization costs.
Financial Consideration
Funding for Change Order #1 (extension of the perimeter road) in the amount of $35,000 is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating from the unobligated fund balance in the Airport Capital Projects Fund (505292) to WO #01611703 (South Taxilane and Run-Up Area).
