On Wednesday Friday, April 6, 2016 the City of Grand Prairie awarded a professional services contract to Westra Consultants, LLC. in the amount of $46,845.00 for a feasibility study to analysis the existing drainage channel from NE 20th Street to IH 30 and the storm drainage systems from NW 19th Street to IH 30 including the systems discharging into the channel and recommend drainage improvements to address the erosion problems in the channel. The report recommended improvements to address the channel erosion problems occurring in the back yards at 2001, 2005 and 2009 Walnut Street, erosion along a channel pond at 2037 Walnut Street, erosion at the drainage outfalls to the channel and flooding at the street sag at NE 19th Street draining through the yards at 1102 and 1106 NE 19th Street to NE 20th Street.
The proposed Change Order/Amendment #1 will provide professional services in the total amount of $64,665 to prepare design plans and specifications for the construction of these recommended storm drainage improvements.
This project was identified as part of the FY 2016/2017 Capital Projects Budget and Capital Projects Plan for Proposed Storm Drainage Projects. This project will provide construction plans for inlet and lateral upsizing at NE 19th Street and NE 20th Street, approximately 180 linear feet of 36” RCP west of NE 20th Street to the existing pipe outfall east of NE 20th Street, removal of the failed concrete spillway at the pond at 2037 Walnut Street and the existing 48” drain pipe west of IH 30 to help drain the pond and providing channel grading and widening and gabion structure lining between the pond and IH 30 storm drain and providing erosion control improvements at three e...
