In January of 2012 the City of Grand Prairie Office of Emergency Management submitted proposals for projects, listed below, to the NCTCOG who in turn submitted them the State for funding.
On October 2, 2012 the City of Grand Prairie Office of Emergency Management was awarded the FY2012 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant in the amount of $80,920.
The purpose of this grant is to purchase equipment for the EOC, EMT supplies, and equipment for our citizens on patrol volunteers.
For the Emergency Operations Center; $45,000 to purchase computers, audio/visual equipment, data enhancements, credentialing system, video teleconferencing equipment, weather station, radio and communications equipment such as amateur radio, and other equipment to provide the ability to collaborate, coordinate resources, and communicate with internal and external partners at the local, State, and Federal level during an event/incident.
Law Enforcement Medical Enhancement Project; $5,500 to purchase automated external defibrillators (AED), two Advanced Life Support bags, two Basic Life Support bags along with medical equipment such as first aid supplies, CPR equipment, OB kit, airway, trauma, and medical equipment that will allow medically trained law enforcement personnel to respond to emergencies and provide emergency medical services until the Grand Prairie Fire Department arrives on scene to continue triage, medical care, patient management and patient transport.
