Analysis
As part of the City’s ongoing Capital Improvements Program, wastewater mains in poor condition are recommended for replacement by the Water/Wastewater Utilities staff on annual basis. City staff prepared plans and specifications to replace wastewater mains in Windsor Place and in the utility easement between SE 10th/S.E 11th streets.
This project includes the removal and replacement of 8” wastewater main in 1) Windsor place between Huntington Drive and Carrier Parkway and 2) the rehabilitation of an existing 8” wastewater main in the easement between SE 10 and SE 11th Streets from Turner Parkway to Grand Prairie Road.
Due to limited access and/or to minimize traffic disruptions, both replacements require non-conventional trenchless methods where limited excavation is required.
The City of Grand Prairie advertised and received one (1) bid for this project on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 as follows:
Texas Standard Construction Total Bid: $668,648
Staff recommends that this project be awarded to Texas Standard Construction in the amount of $668,648 since it's very close to the Engineer's estimate of $665,769.
Project is anticipated to begin in late May 2018 with projected completion towards the end of November 2018.
