Analysis
The Transportation Department is working diligently towards the implementation of a Quiet Zone along the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) mainline at 113th street which would allow this crossing to be designated as a quiet zone. This agreement is intended to authorize and agree to reimburse the Union Pacific Railroad for its expenses and actual costs of installation of automatic crossing warning lights and gates on 113th Street at Union Pacific rail crossing.
City has installed decorative medians at this location as an additional safety measures for quiet zone and will issue Notice of Establishment (NOE) to modify an existing 24-hour Quiet Zone to include 113th street crossing upon installation of automatic crossing warning lights and gates by Union Pacific Railroad.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company for installation of automatic crossing warning lights and gates on 113th Street at Union Pacific rail crossing in the amount of $213,882 and $1,939 for in house inspection for a total project cost of $215,821 is available in the Street Capital Projects Fund (400192), WO #01406703 (QZ for Hidden Creek Neighborhood).
