Analysis
The uniform election date for the city election is May 7, 2016. The three-year terms for the offices of Mayor, Council Member, District Two, and Council Member, District Four will expire in May. Therefore, an election will be held to fill these positions. As in the past, Grand Prairie will be holding a joint election with other cities in Dallas and Tarrant Counties.
Financial Consideration
The city will be contracting with the Dallas and Tarrant County Elections Departments to conduct a joint election with other entities in Dallas and Tarrant County.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, CALLING THE GENERAL ELECTION ON MAY 7, 2016, TO ELECT MAYOR, COUNCIL MEMBER DISTRICT TWO, COUNCIL MEMBER DISTRICT FOUR
WHEREAS, the Uniform Election Date for the City’s General Election has been set as May 7, 2016; and
WHEREAS, City Council has determined that a general election will be held on May 7, 2016, to elect Mayor, Council Member District Two, and Council Member District Four; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has decided and hereby finds it is in the best interests of the City to order such election for May 7, 2016, and to contract with Dallas County Elections Department, and Tarrant County Elections Department, for conducting such election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That a General Election shall be held in the City of Grand Prairie on the 7th of May, 2016 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of electing Mayor, for a three-year term, Council Member, District Two, for a three-year term; and Council Member, District Four, for a three-year term; and
