Analysis
As part of the City’s ongoing Capital Improvements Program, high maintenance and aged water and wastewater main locations are recommended for replacement by the Water Utilities staff on a yearly basis.
Due to frequent blockages and urgent maintenance repairs of two wastewater lines at 1) Wellington Drive and 2) Hill Street/Carrier Parkway, it became imperative that replacement of these utilities must be addressed in a quick and timely manner.
This Amendment/change order No.1 provides for the replacement of approximately 252 linear feet of 8” and 330 linear feet of 12” PVC wastewater lines with other related items of construction.
Replacement of the two added wastewater facilities is anticipated to start in the second week of May 2016 with projected completion in the first week of July 2016. The new completion date for this construction contract is January 23, 2017.
Financial Consideration
The City, as an owner, reserves the right to increase the amount of the work to be performed in a given contract by an amount not to exceed twenty-five (25%) percent of the original contract. The total of this change order is $199,259 which represents fourteen (8%) percent of the original $2,436,801 contract.
Funding in the total amount of $199,259 is available as follows:
1. $199,259 is available by appropriating and transferring from the unobligated fund balance in the Wastewater Capital Projects Fund (500692) to WO #01612301 (Wellington-Hill/Carrier)
