Analysis

The Petco Foundation offers grant funds for animal control agencies to provide lifesaving programs for the community.    The city’s Prairie Paws Adoption Center is currently working with a volunteer group (Grand Prairie Cat Crew) on the implementation of a feral cat trap-neuter-return (TNR) program.  This grant would help the TNR program spay/neuter, as well as microchip, feral cats over the next year.  The grant funds would be utilized to cover the cost of these services provided by non-profit animal welfare agencies that provide spay/neuter services.

Financial Consideration

Prairie Paws Adoption Center could receive up to $78,000 to provide veterinary services (rabies vaccination, spay/neuter surgery, ear-tip and microchip) for an estimated 1,200 feral cats at $65 per cat.  There is not a match requirement on this grant.
