Analysis
The city's ambulances are equipped with a power load system in each of the ambulances. This system assists the medics in lifting the patient to load/unload into/from the ambulance alleviating the need for the medic to physically lift the cot and patient. The Power Pro Cots only conform to the Power-Load system. The Fire Department has three (3) cots to be purchased for the FY19 Replacement Ambulances that are included on Council agenda item 19-8558. The total cost is $136,317.78.
Stryker is a sole-source vendor for the Power Pro Cot and Power-Load system. Stryker holds IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 certifications indicating that the Power Pro conforms to industry standards for mechanical, electrical safety for medical electrical devices and electromagnetic compatibility and immunity. The system is rated to withstand powerful water jets which is imperative to the sanitation process between patients.
