Analysis
In 2011, the Police Department contracted with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) to lease a portion of unused space in the newly constructed Public Safety Building (PSB). Revenue from the lease is intended to be used for improvements and other maintenance costs at the PSB.
The Police Department is requesting to add $40,941 from the unobligated fund balance in the USMS Fund Agreement Fund in order to complete all necessary purchases for the remodel project, including: workstation furniture, computers, supplies, and materials related to the PSB remodel project. This project was part of the approved FY 2013/2014 budget but do to timing it was not done. An increase cost from prior year's appropriated budget is $610.
The Finance and Government Committee reviewed this item on February 3, 2015, and recommended that it be forwarded to the City Council for approval.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the remodel is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating $40,941 from the unobligated fund balance in the USMS Agreement Fund (338391).
