Analysis
The Grand Prairie Police Department’s utilization of emergency vehicles in various law enforcement and public safety capacities requires each vehicle to be outfitted with a myriad of lighting, communication, and other emergency equipment. Given the recent changes to the equipment used in our emergency vehicles, the City sought to rebid its current equipment installation contract.

Notice of Bid #16046 was viewed by 22 vendors. Two bids were received as shown on attachment “A”.

Priority Public Safety’s bid was significantly lower than the second bid received from the City’s current vendor (Main Street Installers). Staff reviewed proposals, conducted interviews and a site visit. Priority Public Safety meets all specifications and is recommended for award. Priority Public Safety’s bid is also less than the current contracted price for equipment installation. This new price agreement will save the City an estimated $46,000.

The one year agreement exists with the option to renew up to four additional one year periods totaling $450,000 if all extensions are exercised.
