The applicant is requesting that Jones Street be renamed to DR.B.J. Horton Street to honor the late Dr. Bobbie Horton and her service to the Bear Creek Neighborhood. No properties are addressed off of Jones Street so no property addresses will be impacted by the change.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, RENAMING JONES STREET, A DEDICATED PUBLIC STREET IN THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS TO DR. B. J. HORTON STREET, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Minister William Earl Horton petitioned the City of Grand Prairie to rename Jones Street to DR. B. J. Horton Street to honor the late Dr. Bobbie Horton, founder of the Alpha and Omega Holiness Church, and
WHEREAS, Notice was given of a public hearing to be held by the City Council of the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, in the City Council Chambers at the Grand Prairie City Hall Complex, 317 W. College Street at 6:30 o'clock P.M. on June 19, 2018 to consider the adoption of an ordinance accepting said new street name, and as all citizens and parties at interest were notified that they would have an opportunity to be heard, such Notice, including the time and place of such hearing, having been given at least ten (10) days prior to such hearing by publication in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Fort Worth, Texas, a newspaper of general circulation in such municipality.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That Jones Street, as depicted on the attached Exhibit A - Location Map, be renamed Dr. B. J. Horton Street.
